Hydrangeas

A macro shot of one of my father in laws Hydrangea plants. They were one of his favorite flowers and I think he would have loved this photograph.

Stans Tie Purse

My father in law recently passed away and this past weekend Seth and I cleaned out his closets. Among the many things we bagged up were his ties. For those who knew him Stan rarely dressed down and I saw these ties as a part of who he was. I hated to see them go to the Salvation Army so I took a bunch of them and turned them into a bag. Now I get to carry a little piece of Stan with me wherever I go. I think he would like that.

Did He Hear Me?

I wonder that almost every day now since he died. I think I knew deep down that last weekend that we were with him that there wouldn't be another weekend but I couldn't find the words. I simply said "Good bye! See you next weekend!". And when the phone call came at 4:30 in the morning I regretted not telling him how much I loved and appreciated him. As he lay dying in his hospital bed I held his hand, kissed his cheek, and whispered words of love in his ear but....Did he hear me? Did he know we were there with him? Could he feel all of the love in the room with him? I wish we knew these things.
